FNAF WORLD IS TRENDING AGAIN (THANKS, MARKIPLIER) — PLAY IT FREE IN YOUR BROWSER
August 23, 2026
Markiplier finally played FNAF World in front of millions of viewers, and the 2016 RPG spin-off is suddenly everywhere again. Here is what the fuss is about — and how to play it yourself right now.
If your YouTube recommendations suddenly look like it is 2016 again, you are not imagining it. Markiplier — all 38 million subscribers of him — finally played FNAF World, and the internet has collectively remembered that this wonderfully weird little RPG exists.
What happened
Markiplier has been on a Five Nights at Freddy's marathon through August 2026, tearing through fan games like Return of the King and the In Real Time remake. Then, in mid-August, he uploaded the streams everyone had been requesting for a decade: two full FNAF World sessions.
The first one crossed 1.6 million views within a week. His own description says it all: "I think it's finally time for me to dip my toes into FNAF World!"
When the biggest FNAF channel on the planet plays a game, that game trends. Search interest in FNAF World has spiked hard, and a whole new generation of viewers is now asking the same question: wait, this exists?
What even is FNAF World?
Released in January 2016 by series creator Scott Cawthon, FNAF World is the franchise's oddball spin-off — instead of surviving security cameras and power meters, you get:
- A full turn-based RPG starring chibi, adorable versions of Freddy, Bonnie, Chica, Foxy and dozens more
- A party of animatronics you recruit as you explore a colorful overworld
- Chips, bytes, and abilities to build your team around
- Multiple endings, secrets, and the infamous final boss Chica's Magic Rainbow
The launch was famously rocky — Scott pulled the game from stores within days, apologized, and re-released it completely free with a big Update 2 later that year. A decade later, it has aged into a genuine cult classic.
Why the comeback has staying power
This is not just a one-week blip. The timing stacks up:
- 2026 is the game's 10th anniversary year
- The fan-made remake FNAF World: Refreshed has been rebuilding the community with modern visuals, a bigger roster, and a major 1.7 update on the horizon
- Anniversary teasers from the official channels have fans speculating about a full-blown sequel — we covered that in our FNAF World 2 teaser breakdown
How to play FNAF World right now
Here is the best part: you do not need to buy or download anything. The original game is free, and it plays directly in your browser on this very site:
